Thomas Anthony dePaola is an American writer and illustrator. He has created nearly 250 children's books over the years. Over 1.5 million copies of his book have been sold around the world. The American Library Association has honoured him with a Caldecott Honour Book, a Newbery Honour Book, and the 2011 Laura Ingalls Wider Award.
